Monthly payment processing cost calculator

Small businesses often need a monthly or annual fee picture—not just the cost on a single $100 charge. Enter your card sales volume, how many transactions you run (or your average ticket), and any fixed monthly subscription. This tool projects processing fees using the same per-charge math as CardFeeCalc’s Stripe, Square, and PayPal US calculators, then ranks processors by total monthly cost.

Need one charge? Use the Stripe vs Square vs PayPal comparison. Marketplace sellers: try monthly volume mode on Etsy, eBay, and other marketplace calculators.

How the fee is calculated

Per transaction: fee = round(ticket × percent + fixed fee) (same as each processor page). Monthly: sum fees across your transaction count at the average ticket implied by volume ÷ transactions. Fixed per-transaction fees matter more when average tickets are small—monthly volume mode captures that.

FAQ

How is monthly processing cost calculated on CardFeeCalc?
We apply the same published percent-plus-fixed rate as each processor’s per-transaction calculator to your average ticket (monthly volume ÷ transaction count), multiply by the number of transactions, and round to cents. Optional monthly subscription fees are added to monthly and annual totals but are not taken from sales volume.
Why does transaction count matter if I already entered monthly volume?
Processors charge a fixed fee on every successful card charge—not just a percent of volume. Two businesses with $10,000 in sales pay very different totals if one runs 50 large tickets vs. 500 small ones. Entering transaction count (or average ticket) models those fixed fees.
Which rates does this monthly calculator use?
US Stripe online (2.9% + $0.30), Square Free online/invoice (3.3% + $0.30) with optional in-person/keyed mix, and PayPal Checkout (3.49% + $0.49), checked October 6, 2026. Custom, international, and in-person Stripe/PayPal products are on each dedicated tool page.
Can I share my monthly volume scenario?
Yes. Monthly mode syncs volume, transactions, subscription, and Square mix to the URL query string (mode=monthly, vol, txns or avg, sub, mix_*). Copy the address bar to share or bookmark.
Does net revenue include subscription fees?
Net revenue on this page is card sales volume minus processing fees only—it does not subtract optional subscription inputs. Monthly total cost includes both processing and subscription when you enter a subscription.
